OF THE FACULTY AND STAFF

THE CODE OF ETHICS
OF THE FACULTY AND STAFF
OF EKIBASTUZ ENGINEERING TECHNICAL INSTITUTE
NAMED AFTER ACADEMICIAN K.SATPAEV

 PREAMBLE

We, the faculty and staff of Ekibastuz Engineering and Technical Institute (hereinafter - EETI):
- respecting the Constitution, the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Charter of EETI;
- by honoring the highest moral traditions of the Kazakh academic science and higher education;

- taking responsibility for the high quality of provided educational services;
- finding it unacceptable to manifest professional misconduct in any form;
- building our relations based on respect of honor and dignity of colleagues, students;

- being opposed to religious intolerance and advocating for the tolerance in any relationship
 accept and undertake to follow the Code of Ethics of the EETI faculty and staff.

1. GENERAL PROVISIONS


1.1. The present Code defines the basic ethical rules of the faculty and staff behavior between themselves, with students, with the representatives of the national, international, city and district organizations, institutions and enterprises and educational institutions.

 1.2. The Code of ethics of the EETI faculty and staff aims to create the most comfortable studying and working conditions, a favorable psychological climate for communication between themselves, students and colleagues from other universities.

1.3. The main goal of the implementation of all the provisions of this Code - to strengthen the corporate culture of the institute community, increasing the authority of the EETI faculty and staff.

1.4. Each EETI faculty and staff fulfilling regulations of the present Code contribute to strengthening of its image and reputation.

 

2. THE FACULTY AND STAFF OF EETI ARE OBLIGED

 

2.1. to aim for high professionalism, continuously work on improving the level of their theoretical knowledge and pedagogical skills.

2.2. to be the bearer of high culture, decency and tolerance.

2.3. to carry out their official duties, showing great responsibility, good conscience and tactfulness.

2.4. to encourage the cultural and moral growth of students.

2.5. to respect the personal dignity of their colleagues, staff and all students studying at the institute.

2.6. to conduct classes, grade tests and examinations in the situation of objectivity and exactingness, coupled with friendly, attentive attitude of the  tutors to the students.

2.7. to show by their own example the need to observe the rules of the labor and educational discipline, careful attitude to the property of the Institute.

            

3. THE FACULTY AND STAFF MEMBERS OF EETI HAVE THE RIGHT

 

3.1. to make proposals, to change or amend this Code

3.2. to submit issues about the violation of the Charter, internal regulations and this Code in EETI, at the meetings of the chairs and other structural subdivisions of the Institute.

 

4. THE EETI FACULTY AND STAFF MEMBERS HAVE NO RIGHTS

 

4.1. to humiliate the personal dignity of colleagues, students in public, namely: use the obscene expressions, to raise their voices to the students.

4.2. to come to the institute while intoxicated or smoke outside the designated areas

4.3. to take gifts from the students whose aim is to influence the results of the educational process, to assign for students monetary charges for the examinations (tests).

4.4. to exclude a student from the lesson if he/she does not violate the discipline and does not prevent the educational process.

4.5. to conduct political agitation in the Institute.

4.6. to be late for work and shorten the time of the classes or execution of their duties, to miss them without a valid reason.

4.7. to demonstrate rudeness and negligence when carrying out their duties.

4.8. to use mobile phones during the classes and meetings

4.9. to allow a biased attitude towards the students and subjectivity in giving grades or during extracurricular activities.

4.10. to turn the control, test and examination procedures into the formal acts with understated requirements.

 

5. LIABILITY FOR VIOLATION OF THE CODE


5.1. A teacher (an employee) is required to know and comply with this Code. Ignorance or misunderstanding of ethical standards is not an excuse for unethical behavior.

5.2. The Commission on awards and ethics considers the applications of the teachers, staff and students about violation of ethics and if confirmed:

a) makes a public reprimand;
b) in the case of  serious or repeated violation of ethics that is not compatible with the behavior of the faculty and staff recommends the institute administration not to prolong the labor contract.

 

6. FINAL PROVISIONS


6.1. Amendments and additions to this Code can be made upon the proposals of the faculty and staff on the basis of the decisions made at the general meetings of the EETI faculty, staff and students.
6.2. The provisions of this Code are obligatory to respect by all faculty and staff members of EITI.

The Code of ethics of the EETI faculty and staff was developed by Commission for awards and ethics of EETI composed of Tursunov M.Zh (Chairman), Smagulov K.H.,  Kambarov Zh.K, Pak V.G., Akishev T.B. taking into account the comments and suggestions made during the discussion at the Academic Council of the Institute and meetings of the structural subdivisions of Ekibastuz Engineering and Technical Institute in 2014-2015 academic year.
